Be Local@Bute Forest by Travel Writer, Robin McKelvie

We're happy to report that we've had more great coverage for our new eco-lettings venture, The Charcoal Huts! We were lucky enough to be featured in a series of blogs by the travel writer Robin Mckelvie on the Be Local website which is hosted by the Scottish Community Tourism organisation (SCOTO) to promote the range of community-owned and operated tourism serviced and experiences in Scotland! SCOTO promotes making a conscious travel choice to ensure that tourism spend benefits the whole host community.

We fully support the efforts of SCOTO to promote community-led tourism, and as the Be Local website notes: "Community initiatives are unlike some other tourism providers because they are owned and operated by the communities they serve. Every penny spent with a community enterprise is reinvested back into local services, generating immediate and long-lasting benefits for that host community. These community enterprises are invariably highly innovative and entrepreneurial in everything they do and each and every one you visit will be unique - often quirky!"

We couldn't agree more and we're excited to see how our venture can benefit our local community as we continue to grow! You can read the full Bute Forest blog and other Be Local community tourism stories from all around Scotland here: Be Local blog
