Archaeology & Heritage

Bute Community Forest has a rich history that extends back through time to earlier human inhabitants and to the days that pre-date humankind. The Old Oak Forest is part of the Atlantic Rainforest from the earliest of times.

More recently, the heritage and archaeology of the area include the Balkanailly Settlement, accessed through a small spruce plantation area above the Oak Forest.
